SANTANA EST. 1935
HISTORY

1944-1944 Ray Milland A handsome yacht and a leading man...

Ray Milland owned Santana for three months and no one seems to know why he sold her so quickly. It has been speculated that the movie studios played some role in the ownership of the boat, as it was a "photo opportunity" to gain publicity with a handsome yacht and leading man. It was held that Milland was a good sailor; it’s too bad he didn’t get to enjoy the boat for very long.

Milland played opposite many of the most attractive and talented female stars in Hollywood, ranging from Claudette Colbert, Dorothy Lamour, Frances Farmer, Paulette Goddard, Ginger Rogers and Marlene Dietrich. One can only guess how many of his co-stars Milland took out for a Sunday sail, but it is known that during Santana’s Bogart years many of his colleagues, both male and female, sailed on Santana.
