SANTANA EST. 1935
REFIT
Not a bad finish for an old wooden boat! Happy Day, time to remove the cover. With her hull painted and cover off,
the boat looks beautiful.

"As the mast came slowly out of the boat, you could see into the bottom of the stainless steel mast step," recalled Paul. "There wasn't a coin, it was empty. I frankly very disappointed. I wondered how this boat sailed all those years with such knowledgeable sailors with no good luck coin under the mast?"

However, as the bottom of the mast cleared the partner at the deck, with the bottom of the mast above his head, Paul could see there was a gold coin imbedded into the wood of the mast.

"It was very cool and my faith in the people who had looked after Santana all of these years was immediately restored."
Restepping her main mast. When the main mast was restepped it
was done the way it was found,
including the 1897 Ten Dollar Liberty
Head gold piece, face up, of course.
